Roger Federer has won the Wimbledon mens single for the eight time. The Swiss beat Croat Marin Cilic 6-3 6-1 6-4. This victory comes five years after his last victory in 2012. Syria: Aid convoy arrives in besieged area for first time since June

A besieged suburb of Homs received aid for the first time since June. Flour, medical items, water and sanitation material were delivered to cut-off Houla. Aid agencies in Syria called for regular access as one-off deliveries run out quickly. According to the U.N. more than half a million people live in besieged territories. The Syrian opposition accuses the government of using aid deliveries as a ploy.  Jul 16, 2017

Manhattan superintendent Martin Fernandez posted a video of an epic apartment cleanup on YouTube. Thousands of cockroaches were crawling through the rooms and Fernandez even found the corpse of a dead cat. According to the superintendent, the former tenant began hording stuff two years ago. He was evicted out of the apartment after a one-year court battle. Fernandez said the smell in the apartment was so foul it came through his face mask. Jul 16, 2017

Video shows car plowing into family at dangerous crosswalk

Three people, including a child, were injured in a car crash at an Oakland crosswalk. A young woman, her cousin and younger brother were crossing the road when a car plowed into them without slowing down. The five-year-old boy was taken into intensive care with spinal injuries. The victims demand more traffic controls in the area where people often drive over the speed limit of 25 mph. Jul 16, 2017

Largest sinkhole in Florida swallows two houses

A sinkhole in Florida is continuing to grow. The hole already destroyed two houses and is currently 200 feet wide. Authorities are waiting for the sinkhole to stabilize. 11 nearby homes were evacuated.No injuries were reported and firefighters saved two pets from the homes. Jul 16, 2017

Turkeys Erdogan addresses rallies to mark first anniversary of failed coup

One year after the failed coup Turks gathered for a commemorative event in Istanbul. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan opened a memorial on 15 July Martyrs Bridge.More than 240 people died before the military coup was shut down. A far-reaching crackdown after the coup has impacted Turkish society. Around 150,000 people were fired and 50,000 detained for having a supposed connection to the coup. Honolulu high-rise fire kills three, including mother and son

Three people were killed in a fire that broke out in the Marco Polo highrise in Honolulu on Friday, including a mother and her adult son. At least 12 others were injured. The building was constructed in 1971, and did not have a sprinkler system. Jul 16, 2017

Bodycam video shows train dragging car along after crash

A police officers bodycam recorded the moment a car was dragged along by a train. The SUV had crashed into the stopped train after ignoring traffic lights. As the police officer attended the accident, the train suddenly began moving. An ambulance crew managed to alert the train driver who stopped the train shortly after. A man and a woman in the car were flown to hospital with not life-threatening injuries. Jul 15, 2017

Milwaukee bus driver finds lost two-year-old boy

A Milwaukee County bus driver helped reunite a lost boy with is family. Duane Butler saw the two-year-old standing by the side of the road at 6:30 am. A passenger went to check on the boy who said he was lost. Butler called for help and had the boy sit on the bus until the police arrived. Going from door to door, the police managed to reunite the boy with his grateful mother. Jul 15, 2017

Dramatic footage shows police rescuing campers stranded by Whittier fire

Dramatic footage shows police officers attempting to reach a holiday camp cut off by a forest fire. 88 children and 26 adult staff had to be evacuated from Circle V Ranch when the Whittier wildfire spread dangerously close to the summer camp. The video shows officers driving down a dirt road towards the camp only to find the path blocked by fire and fallen trees. Search and rescue teams successfully evacuated the campers after four hours with the help of a bulldozer. Jul 15, 2017

Two tourists dead following stabbing at Egyptian hotel resort

At least two people have died after six tourists were stabbed at a hotel resort in Egypt. The Egyptian knifeman killed two German tourists after apparently searching out foreigners to attack, officials and witnesses said. He then swam to another beach to continue his attack before being arrested. The attack occurred after five policemen were killed by masked gunmen close to the pyramids in Giza. Jul 15, 2017

At least 3 dead after fire breaks out in high-rise building in Honolulu

At least three people died in a house fire in Honolulu. 12 others were injured in the blaze on the 26th floor of the 31-storey Marco Polo apartments. The fire burnt through several floors of the 538-unit house. The building was partially evacuated but some people were trapped inside their flats. Firefighters criticized the lack of sprinklers in the apartment complex. Jul 15, 2017
