Earlier this year, Descendants of the Sun actress Song Hye Kyo visited Japan to spread knowledge on Korean history, as a part of the Korean Independence Movement program. Hye Kyo distributed pamphlet titled 'Meeting our history overseas - Tokyo,' which featured a historic timeline on the Korean monuments across the city.
Printed in both Japanese and Korean with insights from Professor Seo Kyung Deok of Sungshin Women's University, the initiative was to help tourist to have a more detailed insight of the Korean history. And now for the National Liberation Day commemorated on August 15, the actress has once again teamed up with the Professor to spread awareness of Korean history throughout the globe.
The duo is distributing 10,000 pamphlets (with both Japanese and Korean description) titled, 'Learning Our History from Overseas - Kyoto Version', to the city of Kyoto, Japan. The effort is to create more awareness on the ample Korean historical monuments located across the city of Kyoto. In addition, the actress is also planning to distribute free pamphlets in places such as Shanghai, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Vladivostok, and more over the years.
The Full House actress has always been vocal about raising awareness on the Korean history. She even rejected an advertising deal with Mitsubishi Motors as the company was involved in forced mobilisation of Korean labours during World War Two. And, Hye Kyo politely declined to endorse the brand.
Meanwhile, Hye Kyo is gearing up for her fairy-taled wedding with his DOTS costar Song Joong Ki. The hi-profile event will take place at the at Shilla Hotel on October 31. Earlier, there were reports that the couple might host their wedding at Taebaek in Gangwon Province. The place where Captain Yoo Shi Jin and doctor Kang Mo-Yeon's love story blossomed.
