The release of the much-awaited Rajinikanth movie, Enthiran 2 aka 2.0 has been delayed, the makers formally announced on Friday. According to reports, the film will hit the screens in January 2018.
Raju Mahalingam, the creative head of Lyca Productions, announced the news on Twitter. "Our most ambitious project, Shankar's 2.0, shifts to 25 January 2018. It moves from earlier Diwali release to achieve world class standards in VFX," Mahalingam tweeted.
Recently, there were rumours about the possible delay of the film after Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar and Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Again were suddenly announced as Diwali releases. 2.0, probably, has been pushed to next year as big production houses generally try to avoid clashes. Moreover, the rescheduling of the movie have garnered several speculations.
Reports said the makers of 2.0 are apparently taking extra care to give a perfect finish to their product and they don't want to make any compromises on its quality. Hence, the movie release has been postponed until next year.
The upcoming Rajinikanth film, 2.0 is made on a budget of Rs 400 crore, which is the highest in India till date. The film is simultaneously being made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Apart from the South Indian superstar, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be also seen in a lead role in the film. Amy Jackson will be playing the female lead in 2.0.
There are speculations that Rajinikanth will be seen in five different roles in Enthiran 2. A report in Mid-Day earlier claimed that apart from scientist Vaseegaran and robot Chitti, the Tamil superstar has portrayed the characters of two dwarfs and a villain. Akshay Kumar will reportedly be seen in 12 roles.
