Music lovers in Singapore are in for a treat in the year 2017. After British band Coldplay and American hard rock band Guns N' Roses announcing its live concert dates in the city-state, Singaporeans are greeted with yet another surprise on Thursday. English singer-songwriter Sting will be performing at the indoor stadium on 28 May.

Singapore will be a stop in the Grammy Award winner's 57th & 9th tour. He will be accompanied by his longtime guitarist, Dominic Miller and Rufus Miller and drummer Josh Freese, announced organiser Live Nation Lushington on 8 December.

The organisers also informed that the tickets, which are priced from S$108, will be available from 15 December and can be at the Indoor Stadium Box Office, at all SingPost outlets. Tickets can also be booked online or the phone at +65 3158-7888.

Members of the official Sting.com fan club will have the opportunity to purchase tickets in advance beginning 9 December (Friday) 10am to 10 December (Saturday), 11.59 pm, said the organisers on its website.

Sting, whose original name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, was the lead singer and bassist for the new wave rock band The Police before launching his solo career. He was ranked among the top 100 best living songwriters by entertainment magazine Paste and 63 of 100 greatest artists of rock by VH1. His all time sensational song "Desert Rose" peaked at No. 2 in Canada, No. 3 in Switzerland, No. 4 in Italy, No. 15 in the United Kingdom and No. 17 in the United States.

The news of Sting performing in Singapore comes after Coldplay announced its concert days at the National Stadium- 31 March and 1 April. American rock band Journey and Guns N' Roses will also be performing on 25 February at the Changi Exhibition Centre and 10 February at the Star Performing Arts Centre respectively.
