CCTV footage shows men assault shopkeeper with avocados and bananas

A New York City shopkeeper suffered a broken jaw after two men threw avocados and bananas at him on 29 May. New York police released footage of the attack at Stadium Gourmet Deli in an effort to identify the suspects.The incident was triggered by a dispute over a food order, police said in a press release. In addition to the broken jaw, the 21-year-old victim suffered a cut and fractures to his face. He was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.The store owner told ABC 7 the men appeared to be drunk during the incident just before 5 am. North Korea releases detained American college student Otto Warmbier

North Korea has released Otto Warmbier. The University of Virginia undergraduate was detained in North Korea in January 2016 for attempting to steal a slogan banner from the restricted areas of the hotel. He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor. Warmbier confessed he tried to steal the banner because he was offered a used car worth $10,000. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson announced that the student is on his way back home to Cincinnati. The release comes amid former NBA star Dennis Rodmans return visit to the North Korea, though Rodman claimed the detained Americans are not his purpose. Hostage situation in Somali capital after car bombing leaves at least 12 dead

Gunmen posing as military forces took dozens of people hostage in a restaurant in Somalias capital Mogadishu on Wednesday (14 June) after a car bomb attack, police said. At least 14 people have lost their lives, including two gunmen who were shot dead. The hostage situation began after a car bomb exploded at the restaurant gate, in an attack claimed by al Shabaab militants. The Islamist group is holding at least 20 people hostage, police said. Top US Republican Steve Scalise shot at Virginia baseball field

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others were injured when a gunman opened fire on members of Congress practicing for a charity baseball game this morning at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Five people were injured in the shooting, including Scalise, R-Louisiana, the House majority whip, as well as the suspect. Scalises office said Scalise was shot in the hip and is undergoing surgery. He is listed in stable condition, his office said. Jun 14, 2017
