Alabama Senate candidate uses Scalise shooting in campaign ad

Mo Brooks, an Alabama U.S. congressman running for Senate, published a campaign ad on July 24 using the June 14 shooting at a baseball practice attended by Republican Congress members and staffers ahead of a charity game against Democrats. The ad drew condemnation, including from Republicans. Former Caracas Mayor Antonio Ledezma arrested

Two major opposition figures in Venezuela, Antonio Ledezma and Leopoldo Lopez, were taken from their homes in the early hours of 1 August, by government forces, according to members of both mens families. The arrests come after significant unrest in Venezuela over the weekend, following a controversial vote called by President Nicolas Maduro to change the constitution. CCTV footage shows dramatic armed bank robbery in London

The robbery in Teddington took place on 10 March. The gun wielding suspect made off with £150 ($198), despite being confronted and tackled by a staff member at the bank. Iraqi general claims Isis are extremely worn out in Tal Afar ahead of key battle

Senior Iraqi military commander Major-General Najm al-Jabouri told Reuters that he doesnt expect the battle for Tal Afar to be large or complicated due to low morale in the ISIS fighters there. Isis claims responsibility for Iraq embassy attack in Afghanistans capital Kabul

Isis has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack at the Iraqi embassy in Kabul. A suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the gates of the embassy, allowing gunmen to storm into the compound and open fire. A four-hour gunfight ended in all attackers being killed by Afghan security forces. Isis declares their fighters have killed 7 guards, but Afghan authorities denied the claim and said only one guard was injured. All embassy staffers are currently safe, but the building has suffered severe damages with broken windows and rooms badly-burned. Aug 1, 2017
