Miss World 2016 live: Philippines' Catriona Gray is multimedia winner, Indonesia wins Beauty with a Purpose award

The 66th edition of the Miss World pageant has begun at the MGM National Harbor. One of the 117 contestants will be crowned winner by Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna at the end of the event.

Ahead of the event, the Spanish beauty said: "It was even more than what I imagined. My life has changed completely and I can say that I'm now a totally different person. I have grown so much. Helping others and traveling is the best way to learn about yourself."

"When I see all the contestants, I feel that I would really like to live the experience again. It brings to my mind a lot of amazing memories. It's not jealousy, but I truly want to be back in this cultural exchange. When I watch the girls, I want to relive all of the competitions- Sports, Top Model, etc."

"I can see in them that I am their reference point and I try to give everyone tips and help the nervous ones. I remind them to enjoy each and every day because it goes by so quickly," she added.
