Catriona Gray will represent Philippines at Miss World 2016 pageant which will be held on 18 December at the MGM National Harbor. The 22-year-old is a fan favorite to win the beauty pageant this year.
Miss World organization had announced that Gray, who has a Master Certificate in Music Theory from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, has been named as one of the finalists in the talent segment. During the auditions, she sang a rendition of Moon River from the iconic 1961 film, Breakfast at Tiffany's.
In September 2013, Megan Young made history when she became the first Filipina to win the Miss World title in Bali, Indonesia. However, she does not want people to compare her and Gray, and put unwanted pressure on the contestant.
During an interview with entertainment website Push, she said: "I think Catriona is her own person... I always tell girls that I meet na as much as it's great to become someone, make sure that your goal is to be the best you."
"She can become her own person and I think there are so many good qualities about her that are so different from me as well. I guess maybe styling-wise, we may have some similarities. She's such a nice person. She's so beautiful but I know that once people start seeing her as Catriona, then she'll shine even more," Young added.
