The top two Korean boy bands may likely face a showdown in September when they make their comebacks.
SM Entertainment's EXO and Big Hit Entertainment's BTS will be releasing their new albums next month, according to reports.
EXO will be releasing a repackaged version of their album "The War" in early September, SM Entertainment said, but not specific date has been decided yet although one Korean news report stated that it's September 4.
On August 21, EXO's Twitter account posted a message that read, "Eclipse begins on August 21, 2017, 09:06:43 AM (PDT) / Madras, OR."
This was followed with a video that said, "The power of music arises when the eclipse occurs" that is interpreted by fans as related to their upcoming album.
EXO released "The War" last July which featured the title track "Ko Ko Bop."
The boy band set another record when they sold one million copies of the album, earning them the title "quadruple million seller" in K-pop.
On the other hand, it was reported that BTS will make their comeback on September 18 but Big Hit Entertainment said that no date has been set yet.
"The comeback date for BTS has not been determined yet. September 18 has not been confirmed. We are considering various dates," the agency said, Soompi reported.
BTS released the album "Wings" in October last year and followed this with the repackaged version titled "You Never Walk Alone" last February. "Wings" became the bestselling album in Korea in 2016.
The boys recently won the Favorite International Artist or Group at the 2017 Kids' Choice Awards Mexico held on August 19 in Mexico. They won the award against Justin Bieber, Harry Styles and Camila Cabello.
They previously won the Choice International Artist at the Teen Choice Awards and the Top Social Artist Award at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA).
