Piracy has become the new trend after the government has listed downloading of movies from the web as a punishable offence. A few days back, India's 2018 Oscar nomination 'Newton' was leaked on several torrent sites and was available for both online viewing and download.

In August, Jab Harry Met Sejal starring Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma was reportedly leaked online within 24 hours of its theatrical release. Though many strict measures and policies have been implemented by governments, none of them has been successful in curbing the menace.
