ios 11 launch
(Apple)

The wait is almost over as Apple is finally seeding the official iOS 11 worldwide starting Wednesday.

On Monday, Apple took Twitter for a pre-release announcement of the eligible devices as well as a reminder before getting the update. To update to iOS 11, a user only needs an Apple ID password, an iPhone passcode, and iPhone backup, power and Wi-Fi.

Back up necessary data

Since iOS 11 is a major operating system upgrade, one needs to back up all necessary data of an iPhone or iPad. The update rolls out over-the-air (OTA), so just like anything else, there is a chance that the update would go awry. Make sure backup destination is safe and secure.

To back up using iCloud, go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back up Now. To back up using iTunes, launch the app and go to the backup section under the main menu, then tap 'This Computer' and 'Apply'.

Storage space

As a major update, it is expected that iOS 11 will need a number of gigabytes. Make sure to free up space, at least 3 gigabytes, to ensure your device can accommodate this huge update. To know your device's memory status, head over to Settings > Devices > Storage.
