Those who aren't so keen on knowing what processor their devices are using should know that mobile processing chips command what smartphones or tablets can do. The recent Snapdragon 845 announcement of Qualcomm has quite a few reasons why users should be excited about the next-generation handsets coming in 2018.

More than security and battery life improvements, Snapdragon 845 is capable of doing so much more than that. IBTimes Singapore lists three ways the Snapdragon 845 chip will improve your smartphone in 2018.

Mixed reality become more immersive

Virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality are bound to become a more sophisticated and immersive with Snapdragon 845. The next-generation processor chip enables room-scale 6DoF (6 degrees of freedom), allowing it to monitor head movement and location as you move around.

Its SLAM (simultaneous location and mapping) that can morph objects around into things that fit the VR environment. This is especially helpful so you would not bump into something.

Industry standards video and image quality

Talking about standards, it is not the one that the smartphone industry has been accustomed to for a couple of years. With Snapdragon 845, video and image render more vibrant and true-to-life; big thanks to its new Adreno 630 visual processing subsystem that is capable to capture 64 times more HDR colour information and depth.

Couple it with second-generation Spectra image signal processor that records 4K videos at 60 frames per second (fps) as well as 720 pixels at 480 fps which is most useful for a very smooth slow motion video.

Personal assistants become more

In this age of mobility, personal assistants play a crucial role in the fulfilment of a more practical mobile device. Using them, however, sometimes make us feel they are just mere digital voice assistants.

Snapdragon 845 boasts its promise to make artificial intelligence-powered assistants be more realistic, more natural and more accurate. Best of all, less latency is expected to be achievable so personal assistants can interact with their users as prompt and as precise as possible.

Processors are a huge factor in the innovation of technologies. Snapdragon 845 can be a great driving force for original equipment manufacturers and software developers to deliver more advanced enhancements.
