Looks likes there is no stopping of girl band TWICE. The 9-member team has once again created history by surpassing 200 million views on YouTube for their recently released single 'TT'—the first K-Pop girl band to achieve the number. The MV exceeded 220 million views at 10:00 am today. Earlier, 'TT' secured 100 million YouTube hits in just 71 days, becoming the fastest K-pop group to achieve it.
The album was released on October 24, 2016, and contained seven tracks, including the lead single, 'TT' produced by Black Eyed Pilseung who also composed Twice's hit songs 'Like OOH-AHH' and 'Cheer Up'. TT's music video has the members showcasing different personalities and famous characters through Halloween-themed cosplays. The video for TWICE's debut single 'Like OOH-AHH' also topped 100 million views on YouTube last November. Within 19 months after debut, Twice has sold over 1.24 million units of their four EPs and special album.
Their latest EP titled 'Signal: The 4th Mini Album' charts at No. 3 on Billboard's World Albums chart this week. It was also reported that 'Signal' sold over 250,000 copies within a week after its release. The girls are currently gearing up to make their official Japan debut on June 28. Their Japanese debut will be #TWICE that will be a mix of their hit songs. On July 2, the girls will perform their debut showcase 'Touchdown In Japan' at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. However, it looks like the girl group has already marked a place for themselves on Japan.
According to an earlier report on Soompi, a survey conducted among female students in Japan revealed that the band is already popular in the country with almost 80 percent of the students already being aware of the group. They also stated that they liked the group because of its Japanese members, Momo, Sana, and Mina.
Started in 2015, the road to success was never a cakewalk for TWICE but they made sure to trounce all the hurdles with hard work and excellence. The group is composed of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Today, with an amazing fan base across the globe, TWICE is already compared to two legendary Kpop Girl Bands, 2NE1 and Girls Generation. They are also one of the few Kpop bands to top the Billiboard charts for more than 4 weeks.
