Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), unveiled the list of films to be screened, at its 42nd edition, all set to commence from September 7. Here's a list for all movie lovers, to get an idea of the Oscar nominees and winners, all set to burn the stage next year.
Most of the movies screened at the TIFF, in the past, had taken the Oscars back home. The Hurt Locker (2009), The Kings Speech (2010), The Artist (2011), The Descendants (2011), Argo (2012), 12 Years a Slave (2013), Gravity (2014), La La Land (2016) and Manchester By the Sea (2016), all were on the TIFF lineup, before captivating the audience at the Oscars.
Toronto International Film Festival, which attracts a crowd of over 480,000 people annually, is one of the world's largest publicly attended film festivals. Several screenings, lectures and discussions also take place TIFF Bell Lightbox - a cultural centre in Toronto throughout the year.

Faces Places (Visages Villages)
This French masterpiece, a travelogue, brings forth Agnès Varda in collaboration with JR, a street artist. The awe surrounding each locale has been wonderfully portrayed here. The duo travels extensively through the French countryside, eternalizing the faces they meet, at every nook and corner of the street. Like most of Varda's creation, "Faces Places", a non-fiction, is sure to fascinate the audience.

Thelma
Director of "Louder than Bombs", Joachim Trier's latest directorial venture "Thelma", focuses on a faint-hearted, young woman, who moves to Oslo, to attend school and discovers her hidden supernatural abilities. Things turn murkier as she is embraced with dark magical forces. A different take on Hollywood's masterpiece "Carrie"; "Thelma" might as well succeed in beguiling the audience.

The Third Murderer
Director Hirozaku Koreeda's convoluted murder mystery, is sure to provide a menacing vibe. An already complicated tale about a defense attorney, who believes, his client, the self-confessed murderer to be a scapegoat to a more sinister conspiracy, sets the stage straight for a tough competition. Will he be able to finally untie the knots and dig deeper?

Mother
Speaking of Oscars and film fests, how can our very own JLaw stay behind? Amidst the confluence of certain outstanding foreign language films at the TIFF this year, JLaw's "Mother" is already grabbing attention of the viewers worldwide, with its teaser. Darren Aronofsky's psychological thriller stars Oscar Award winner Jennnifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer. It brings on screen, a couple, haunted by unwanted guests at their peaceful abode.

Molly's Game
Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba in the lead. What more can one desire? Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut, with such a marvelous star cast, straight through to TIFF's lineup, is enough to give one the adrenaline rush. The tale of Molly Bloom, proprietor of Hollywood's most exclusive, high profile poker game, for a decade, closed down by the FBI, positively will enthrall the audience.

Suburbicon
Director George Clooney, teaming up with co-writers Joel and Ethan Coen, with Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Issac, needs no further simplification. The star cast is enough to draw viewers to the theaters. "Suburbicon" highlights a gathering of extremely flawed people taking a further idiotic decision in the 1950s.
