Actor Song Joong Ki is said to have donated KRW 20 million to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation. A report on Osen news stated that the 'Descendants of the Sun' actor has been regularly making donations to help children affected by cancer. The report further stated that the actor has also been sponsoring the needs of two children with malignant lymphoma and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Earlier in 2015, Jong Ki donated KRW 95 million towards Korean Leukemia Children's Foundation. The 31-year old actor's philanthropic deeds came to the spotlight during his military service. He donated a sum of KRW 100 million to UNICEF funds for aiding children affected by the Nepal earthquake. Jong Ki has also contributed the proceedings of his various fan meeting towards charity and other causes.
Recently, after completing the shoot of 'The Battleship Island,' the actor made a donation of KRW 20 million to the 'House of Sharing' at the Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, a shelter for elderly women who were forced to serve as 'comfort women' for the Japanese troops during World War II.
Meanwhile, Jong Ki is gearing up for his wedding with his 'Descendants of the Sun' costar Song Hye Kyo at South Korea's Shilla Hotel on October 31. In the hit drama, Joong Ki plays the lead role as Captain Yoo Shi Jin, and Hye Kyo reprises the role of a doctor named Kang Mo-Yeon.
