Scientists have discovered eight new spindle-like galaxies—huge structures once thought to be extremely rare features of the cosmos. Traditionally, we think of galaxies as being flat rotating disks made up of billions of stars, with a black hole at their center. However, scientists also know of another type known as prolate rotators. These are cigar-shaped galaxies that rotate along their axis making it look like a spindle. Two men have been convicted of conducting random chemical attacks and violent robberies in London. Sadik Kamara, 24, and Joshua Gordon, 20, were both found guilty of applying a corrosive fluid with intent to burn, main, disfigure or do grievous bodily harm at Wood Green Crown Court on 10 October. The Met Police have released shocking CCTV footage of one of the incidents, where a gang including Kamara and Gordon entered a supermarket in Hackney, and sprayed the shopkeeper with ammonia three times in the face, before stamping on her.
