Korean boy band SHINee member Taemin's career is on the upswing. The 24-year-old singer has released his second studio album titled "Move" and will be appearing as a mentor on the idol rebooting TV show "The Unit," which will air starting on October 28.

"Move," containing nine songs, has debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's World Albums chart and No. 2 on Korea's Gaon Chart.

In an interview with Billboard, Taemin said, "For (the album) 'Press It,' I was involved in writing some of the lyrics. In this album, I was not involved so much in songwriting or composition process, however, when songs were selected and in meetings to narrow down the final songs that were included in the album, my opinions were reflected."

He first released the album "Ace" in 2014 followed by "Press It" in February last year, which peaked at No. 1 on the Gaon Chart.

Taemin said most of the songs in the "Move" album have an R&B vibe and fans will see a different side of him compared to his last album.

"This album gives off the most mature sound. (The title track) 'Move' is a PB R&B track that also has a house vibe as well. I felt the bass was very impressive when I first heard the song," he added.

On being a mentor on "The Unit" TV show, Taemin said, "Firstly, it was very meaningful for me. For me, my mentor was Rain who I like and admire so much. To be able to appear in the same place with him as a mentor to someone is meaningful and such an honor.

Rain will be the emcee of the TV show, which will have K-pop artists as contestants. The TV show follows the successful airing of "Produce 101" Season 2, which served as the platform for new boy bands Wanna One, JBJ, MXM and Rainz. The other mentors on "The Unit" are Hwang Chi Yeul, HyunA and San E.
