For a long time, Samsung Electronics Co has been rumoured to be developing future smartphones that are capable of bending. The latest report reveals the company is now working on the release of the said smartphones.
South Korean tech giant Samsung is reportedly gearing up for the debut of its first foldable smartphone. While there has been no confirmation yet, the company is speculated to launch the said device in a few months' time.

Based on the report of Business Korea on Thursday, September 28, the phone bends inwardly with a 3R curvature. Samsung Display has reportedly been working on screens with a similar design.
The publication adds that Samsung spent about five years to bring the innovative concept to life. Foldable smartphones first came out more than a decade ago, and their components rely on hinges to make the display and the keypad bend. With the next-generation Samsung smartphones, the display itself will be bendable, as reported.

At the Galaxy Note 8 launch earlier in September, Samsung president Ko Dong-jin confirmed the company is planning to deliver a smartphone in 2018 with a folding design. However, unstated setbacks stopped them from pursuing the plan.
"We are currently dealing with some hurdles to do so and we will release our first foldable smartphone after overcoming the hurdles," says Ko.
Early in 2017, Samsung prototypes, believed to be of the foldable smartphones, emerged. Reports say it might be more powerful than the Galaxy S8.
