Samsung has finally rolled out the official Android 7.0 Nougat to the Galaxy J5 (2016) smartphone. The release had been confirmed by the community on Monday.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) has just begun receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. The mid-range smartphone was spotted on the web database of Wi-Fi Alliance already running the Android Nougat software.

Apparently, the device is only one of the few older smartphones of the South Korean tech giant to get the update this early. Recently, Samsung rolled out Android Nougat to Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017).

Even the newer Galaxy mobile devices are still under testing for Nougat, including Galaxy A8, Galaxy A9 Pro, Galaxy Tab E, Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7 and Galaxy C9 Pro. These newer devices have already been confirmed to get the Android O in the next couple of months or early in 2018. However, the Galaxy J5 (2016) remains unconfirmed for the next update.

Android 7.0 Nougat offers a couple of new features and tweaks that Galaxy J5 owners will enjoy, including the enhanced notifications, additional emojis, better app permissions and tonnes of bug fixes.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) sports a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen. It is powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor, which may not be supported by the next Android software upgrade. As of now, device owners can still keep their hopes up since there is no confirmation yet coming from Samsung.
