Hurricane Irma ripped roofs off houses and flooded hundreds of kilometres of coastline as it raked Cubas northern coast after devastating islands the length of the Caribbean. Placebo swears at concert venue to support same-sex marriage

Placebo singer Stefan Olsdal spoke out in support of same-sex marriage during a concert in Melbourne, Australia. He asked the audience to chant: fork you, Margaret Court, the venue of the concert. Margaret Court Court Arena namesake, an Australian tennis champion, spoke out against same-sex marriage recently. Residents evacuated from Caribbean islands following Hurricane Irma

A tour company on Antigua assisted with the evacuation of over 200 residents from Barbuda. The elderly, pregnant woman and mothers with young children were evacuated first.The neighboring island was devastated by Hurricane Irma. Cubas coast battered by Irma

Hurricane Irma continues to move along the northern coast of Cuba. Cuba was drenched with rain and wind from the edge of the storm. Dangerous storm surges of up to 10 feet are expected. Irma may move closer to the country throughout the day. Tourists and even dolphins were evacuated from the predicted path of the storm. 270,000 Rohingya flee to Bangladesh after weeks of violence

270,000 Rohingya have fled from Myanmar to neighboring Bangladesh in the past two weeks. The ethnic minority is fleeing violence in Myanmars Rakhine State. Resources of aid agencies and communities in Bangladesh are strained. Villagers said they were told to feed the refugees and send them on to camps. Bangladesh is already caring for hundreds of thousands of Rohingya who previously fled discrimination in Myanmar. Sep 9, 2017
