Superstar Rajinikanth turned 67 today and his fans are seen celebrating his birthday in Chennai by pouring milk on his huge cutouts.The star, as usual, remained not reachable at a secret location and stayed away from celebrating his birthday and spending some time away from his regular routine.
Sources close to Rajinikanth reveal that the 'Thalaiva' opted for a low key affair on his birthday due to the Cyclone Ockhi disaster last week, in which 500 Tamil fisherman went missing and 40 people lost their lives. This is the third year in a row that the actor has chosen to celebrate his birthday in a low-key manner.
Rajinikanth began his career working as a conductor in Bangalore Transport Service. He began his film career with a small role as an abusive husband in 'Apoorva Raagangal'. It was followed by 'Katha Sangama' and by 1978, Rajini, known for his unique style and dramatics, starred in 20 different films in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
His first big hit in the Tamil film industry was 'Moondru Muidichu'. After a brief break, he made a come back with 'Billa' one of Amitabh Bachan 's remake. He has also created a surprise pattern in his movie career. He continued with his remakes such as Mr. Bgrath 'n' Muthu, Thee, Peranakan, Annamalai, Manna, and Chandramukhi. His movie 'Muthu' was a big hit in Japan too.
The success was so phenomenal that his name was mentioned by former Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh during his address to the Japanese delegations. Starting as an anti-hero in his career, the superstar has reportedly earned Rs.26 crore for his role in Shivaji, making him as the highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan.
His plunge into politics was like an open book similar to his movie career. In 1996 he supported the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-Tamil Maanila Congress Alliance, though it did not help them in winning the elections against the rival party AIADMK that was headed by Jayalalithaa.
He stayed away from politics even though several veteran politicians approached him with an idea of floating a new party. However, times have changed for Rajanikanth who might enter into politics by launching his own party in 2018. At present, the superstar is busy with 'Enthiran 2.0' and 'Kaala' which is scheduled to be released next year.
