Here is a great news for PSY fans. The 'Oppa Gangnam Style' singer is all set to make a comeback with a brand new album in May. Though PSY himself has stated that he would release his new album in April, it now looks like there will be a delay in the play.
A source from PSY's agency YG Entertainment told Soompi that his comeback album will be released in May and the singer has already completed the shoot of two music videos. A report on The Korea Herald also confirmed the same and quoted a statement from the agency that reads, "Psy has been preparing for the new album for a year. The exact date of release has not yet been confirmed but he is slated to drop the album sometime in May."
PSY's last album release was "Chiljip Psy-da" which included the double lead tracks "Daddy" and "Napal Baji," almost 18-month back. This will be his eighth studio album. PSY's first full-length album was "Psy from the Psycho World!" in 2001. However, it kickstarted few controversies for its vulgar lyrics. His popularity rose in 2012 after hits like "Gangnam Style," "Gentleman" and "Hangover."
PSY's "Gangnam Style" still holds the YouTube record for the highest number of hits. It garnered more than 800 million hits and 2.8 billion views. The song became a massive hit across the globe and PSY became an international sensation overnight. In December 2012, MTV noted Psy's rise from little-known outside South Korea to an international superstar, and, for being first in the YouTube-era to secure a place in pop-culture history, hailed the singer as the "Viral Star of 2012." The song had topped the music charts of more than 30 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
