Trainee Kim Tae Min will be backing out from the second season of Produce 101 due to health issues. According to the actor's agency, Hanahreum Company, he is suffering from Enterostenosis, also known as intestinal stenosis. It is a condition where the intestine walls become thinner making it difficult for the nutrition process.
A statement from the company said that Kim was suddenly taken to the hospital last week after he complained of severe abdomen pain. The statement also added that the star has to undergo a surgery to recover from the problem. Considering all these factors, it would be difficult for Kim to appear on Produce 101 Season 2, so he decided to quit the program. The same was already discussed with the makers of the show.
The statement further added, "As expected, Kim Tae Min, who had a lot of passion, is disappointed by the situation, and will work hard to quickly return to good health and return to a better self. We would like to send our apologies to the fans who must be distressed over the sudden news of his departure, and we promise to do our best to do everything from an agency's standpoint to help Kim Tae Min return in better health in front of everyone."
Meanwhile, another trainee Kang Daniel sustained injuries while rehearsing for the show. A photo of Kang with a hurt thumb and splint has surfaced on social media. However, the makers of the show immediately clarified that it was a minor injury and will not affect his activities on the show.
Produce 101 is a reality show on Mnet where the audience choose a boy band by picking up their favourite performer from a pool of 101 trainees from 54 entertainment companies. In addition, the audience will also decide the group's concept, debut song, and group name.
