Niantic Labs has finally released the crowd favourite Pokémon, Mewtwo, as a raid boss in Pokémon GO on Monday at the Yokohama, Japan event. Mewtwo currently has 100 per cent catch rate as part of Pokémon GO's first-anniversary event in the country.
Once Mewtwo as a raid boss is released globally, it surely is a hard enemy to take down. To make things easy for you, we have provided details below so you can get this mighty Pokémon.
Like any other raid bosses, Mewtwo will only be used to attack Gyms, not defend Gyms from an attack. Remember that the Buddy Distance for Mewtwo is 20 kilometres.
How to catch Mewtwo
To catch Mewtwo, the trainer has to learn which Pokémon is the best to beat this legendary down. Note that Mewtwo has a raid boss CP of 49,430, which means it is not your average Pokémon. But to help you increase your chances, take note of the following points and suggestions.
Mewtwo is a Psychic-type Pokémon. That means, it takes added damage from certain types of Pokémon such as Dark, Ghost and Bug. So, we recommend taking advantage of the raid boss' weakness by using Tyranitar, Gyarados, Scizor, Pinsir, Houndoom or Gengar.
Mewtwo global release
Niantic has introduced a new exclusive raid system for Mewtwo, which is invite-only. Once Niantic releases the latest raid boss to more countries by the end of the month, trainers cannot expect a similar catch rate that of in Japan, so you would have to do the dirty work if you badly want Mewtwo in your Pokédex.
Remember Articuno when launched? The second Legendary Pokémon to be released on Pokémon GO had 2 per cent catch rate. The trick, however, is to store Golden Razz Berries to double your chances before you go catch Mewtwo.
