Mountain View, California-based tech giant Google is planning to launch its next flagship Pixel phones - Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL - at an event on October 4th. As the date is coming closer, more details and leaks are surfacing online. Recently, Droid Life has published some new images of the device, which hint towards a larger, LG-made device. The report also reveals that Google is going to set the base price of Pixel 2 XL at $849 for 64GB storage variant and bump it up to $949 for the more premium 128GB.

The price point of the Google Pixel 2 XL 128 GB puts it near the $1,000 mark, which the device is likely to cross after adding the sales tax over the $949. So, it seems like an era of super-expensive smartphones is just beginning. As it did for the original Pixel, Google will again offer monthly financing to help spread that investment out over 24 months. The 64GB Pixel 2 XL will be $35.38 each month, with the 128GB version slightly higher at $39.54/mo.

As was the case with the first generation Pixel phone, Google will again offer monthly financing to help spread the cost over 24 months. The 64GB Pixel 2 XL will cost $35.38 each month, while the 128GB version will incur $39.54 per month if you go for the installment scheme, suggests the report.

Droid Life also says that the Pixel 2 XL will come in two color options at the time of launch. There will be a black version, which is reminiscent of the original, and a new version with white/black combo, which will also have a black rear glass pane. Certainly, it will be a unique look. Another interesting colour combination is going to be on the white model, whose power button will be coloured orange. Hopefully, the front of the device will be black in both the colour variants.

The Pixel 2 XL's expected features and specifications include a 6-inch OLED screen and a Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor.

It is possible that Google will focus on the optics of the upcoming phones more in order to differentiate them from an impressive lineup of 2017 flagship competition. As always, you can expect photography and camera performance of the phones to be at the top of Google's priority list.
