Popular 'Running Man' star Lee Kwang Soo will now be readily available on Chinese residents' mobile sets.
The South Korean actor, fondly named as 'Asia's Prince', has become the country's first celebrity to get featured as emoticon on China's well-liked messenger app WeChat. The news came to light after the release of an official statement by Kwang Soo's agency, King Kong Entertainment.
The official note read: "Lee Kwang Soo is the first Korean celebrity to visit users as emoticons on China's greatest Internet service portal Tencent, and its messenger system 'We Chat'." An impressive number of more than 6 million people daily use this popular messenger."
The emoticons of Lee Kwang Soo are being provided by Danal Entertainment and will be available on global messenger service WeChat from May 3.The fun emoticons will feature the 30-year-old in 24 different images showcasing the actor's different facial expressions and style.
Giving insights about the actor, and his distinct quirkiness, Danal Entertainment executive Park Kyu Yeon told Allkpop: "Lee Kwang Soo is a hallyu star loved by China, Thailand, Vietnam, and more in Asia. Lee Kwang Soo's emoticon being the first Korean celebrity on 'We Chat' is expected to be highly popular."
Lee Kwang Soo is one of the highly acclaimed actors in Korean entertainment industry. His upbeat image and friendly aura have garnered quite a lot accolades in Southeast Asia and China.
Lee Gwang Soo currently appears in tvN's Dear My Friends and KBS 's The Sound Of Your Heart.
