BOYS24 member Lee Hwayoung has been removed from the group. The singer had come under fire for making harsh comments about fans.
The backlash started Hwayoung's rumoured former girlfriend uploaded a voice recording of him slamming fans. He allegedly said: "I like being called 'oppa.' Not by fans though. That's f**king s**tty. It sucks at hi-touch sessions, you know, at those events where we hold our fans' hands and greet them. We have to greet 700 or 800 people and it makes me want to throw up. Seriously, their breaths smell like crap."

The band's label, CJ E&M, announced that Hwayoung has been officially expelled from the group. The statement read:
First, we sincerely apologize to BOYS24's fans, recognizing the problem of Hwayoung and his privacy issue.
And after discussing this problem, we officially announce that his contract with BOYS24 was terminated and he was expelled from BOYS24.As announced on last Feb 8th, we worried that his problem would heavily tarnish the image of BOYS24 and would hurt our fans who have given unconditional love for BOYS24.
Therefore, we decided to terminate the contract with him and ultimately dismiss him from BOYS24.Lastly, to all those who have believed in and supported BOYS24, we apologize again from the bottom of our heart for this problem. And we promise that we, the companies and BOYS, will try harder to show you better performances. Thank you.
