Actor Lee Dong Gun and K-pop group T-ara's Jiyeon have parted ways after almost a year and a half of dating citing incompatibility as the reason. For the past few days, there was a widespread speculation in the media over their break-up.

The breakup news has been confirmed by Lee's agency FNC Entertainment. They said that they have decided to separate their ways due to their busy schedules, however, the exact reason has not been revealed. An industry source stated to Soompi: "They recently decided to end their relationship as a couple and remain as colleagues. They separated naturally just like any ordinary couple would because they were unable to meet up frequently due to their busy schedules."

Jiyeon's agency MBK Entertainment also confirmed the news and stated that they broke up around December last year but will continue to support each other.

The two actors first met on the sets of their Korean-Chinese collaborative movie, "Encounter" back in June 2015. Love sparked immediately and they confirmed their relationship in July of the same year.

In his fans page, the 36-year-old actor, who reached heights with his 2004 smash hit drama "Lovers in Paris," described the breakup as "fate." He is currently busy with his KBS drama "The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop." Jiyeon, 23, is a member of girl group T-ara and has acted in a number of dramas including "Dream High 2," "Master of Study," and "Triangle."

On a live broadcast session through Instagram yesterday, Jiyeon assured fans that she is doing well after her break-up. When concerned fans asked her about the status, she said: "I'm okay." Later, she wished her fans "Happy New Year. Jiyeon, who is the youngest of the group, is currently gearing up for her solo album. Details regarding the album's concept, the title track, and the release date will be revealed soon.

Back in 2014, she made her first solo mini-album called Never Ever, with 1 MIN 1 SEC title track. It reached the third spot in Gaon's album chart.
