Hallyu star Kim Soo Hyun's new film "Real" opened on Wednesday in cinemas in South Korea. The R-rated film, in which no one under 18 is allowed to watch, also stars Sung Dong-il and former f(x) member Sulli. He portrays the role of Jang Tae-yeong in the action noir movie about conspiracy in Asia's biggest casino.

In making the movie, he told Yonhap News that "I wanted to extract all of what I have done, felt, studied and learned for the film."

According to the Korea Media Rating Board, "Real" contains scenes of sexual acts between men and women, whole body exposure, killing using a knife, drug production and drug inhalation.

Kim Soo Hyun hopes that moviegoers will discover the film's gem. "At first, they are not exposed because of the so-called visually 'strong' scenes. But when the lid of the movie opens and the power of the scenes are lost, many devices hidden in the movie will be revealed and the audience will find them out," he added.

He was hesitant in accepting the role because of its violent and obscene scenes. "I decided to appear in it on the thought of how happy I would be if I could express the two people differently," he explained.

He and Sulli also have a sex scene. Sulli explained that ""I don't think it was easy," according to the Korea Herald. "It was a huge challenge for me, acting-wise and in other areas. It was hard and I had a lot of concerns but it was fun," she said.

This is Kim Soo Hyun's film in four years after starring in "Secretly, Greatly" in 2013.

About Sulli, the actor said, "Before doing this film, I had no idea about how she speaks and acts. But she was so easygoing that it was comfortable working with her."

He rose to prominence after starring in dramas such as "Dream High," "Moon Embracing the Sun" and "My Love from the Star."

"After 'Dream High' and 'The Moon Embracing the Sun,' I had a lot of worries about people. It was difficult to look at people properly and to talk about myself," he said.

He added, "I now feel the distance between Kim Soo-hyun in real life and actor Kim Soo-hyun is narrowing. I think I have come to have a broader mind."

Kim Soo Hyun describes himself as clumsy in real life. "I'm a person who is still clumsy in many ways but tries to be closer to perfection," he said.
