Korean boy band BTS are the toast of the K-pop world after they received the Top Social Artist award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards held in Las Vegas.
Following the triumph, K-pop and American stars congratulated BTS for the achievement.
"Beautiful. The interacting love & support fans and artists have, and finally even achieved something historical. Beautiful," tweeted former U-KISS member Alexander Eusebio.
Kevin Woo, another former member of U-KISS, also posted, "Wow big moment for #KPOP. Congrats @BTS_twt"
"Woke up to eat breakfast, checked my twitter feed and BAM! Huge step for KPop! Don't know any of them personally but CONGRATULATIONS!" said Peniel of boy band BTOB in a message posted on Twitter.
Singer Eric Nam wrote, "Congrats congrats congrats @BTS_twt !!!!!!!! Yessss!! #bts #army."
On Instagram, American singer Halsey posted a video with BTS along with her message. She said, "Congrats on the win guys! This is a massive moment for kpop! Love!!!!!!! #BTS."
Even Chainsmokers also joined by posting, "Ayyyyy congrats @BTS_twt."
BTS beat Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendez. American and other media around the world took note of BTS' triumph.
"BTS made #BBMAs history last night," according to Billboard.
TIME picked BTS as one of the best moments at the BBMAs.
"The seven-member K-pop boy band, full name Bangtan Sonyeondan, blew up social media during the course of the evening, their voracious fandom inundating feeds with support for the group," according to a TIME story. "In their first appearance at a U.S. awards show, they handily took home the prize for Top Social Artist, and made quite a few new fans in the process (Halsey included). If this is any indication, BTS is poised to become one of K-pop's first real stateside crossover successes."
ABC, which aired the awards show, noted that BTS "earned one of the night's loudest ovations."
In a radio interview after the show, BTS' Rap Monster said their next goal was to hold a tour at a world stadium with at least 30,000 to 50,000 fans in attendance.
"I can say that to have a stadium tour is our next goal," he said.
