She is best known for being a member of girl group DIA, and for finishing seventh in the survival show Produce 101, making her a member of girl group I.O.I.
Formed by MBK Entertainment, SIA consists of seven members—Eunice, Huihyeon, Jenny, Yebin, Eunjin, Chaeyeon, and Eunchae. The girl band made their debut in 2015 with the album 'Do It Amazing.'
The group faced a temporary hiatus after Huihyeon and Chaeyeon withdrew for making appearance on the competition program Produce 101. It was due to their earlier contract signed for Mnet. However, the girl came back strongly after Chaeyeon became a finalist on the series. In 2016, DIA returned with EP Happy Ending featuring "On the Road" which entered the Gaon at number forty-nine, their highest position on the chart. Their second EP Spell released in the same year became their most commercially successful release thus far, selling 13,405 copies.
According to Wikipedia, Chae-yeon re-joined I.O.I for their second promotional cycle as a full group, releasing Miss Me? on October 17, 2016 with the lead single "Very Very Very". The October 21, 2016 broadcast of Music Bank marked an incident where due to scheduling conflicts, she performed on the show twice; once with DIA on their final run of televised performances for "Mr. Potter", and again with I.O.I. as they began promotions for "Very Very Very".
