Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is now free from all ties to his ex-wife Amber Heard, but that 'freedom' has come at a huge cost. The divorce came into effect on Friday, culminating rather acrimonious proceedings. The bitter ending of the battle was followed by the media the world over blow by blow. According to People, the actor didn't really get everything he was hoping in the settlement of divorce from Amber Heard.
It's learnt that Amber Heard will receive $7 million in settlement, which she has pledged to donate to charity. According to inquisitr, Heard's attorney, Pierce O'Donnell, said, "It is a great day. All Amber wanted was a divorce and now she has it. In the words of Gerald Ford, 'Our long national nightmare is over."
The actor requested to impose a $100,000 sanction on Heard for deliberately trying to delay the divorce proceedings, but the imposition of the penalty was denied by the judge. Rather, Heard made a similar accusation stating that the actor delayed taking action and in making payments of the settlement, prevented Heard from retrieving her personal property and transferring ownership of a vehicle.
However, Depp's attorney stated that Amber Heard's delays in moving forward were "a blatant attempt to extend her fifteen minutes of fame" and "an embarrassing grab for additional and unwarranted attorney's fees," inquisitor reported.
The Priates of the Caribbean actor has been ordered to pay an additional $500,000 towards Amber Heard's legal fees. According to CNBC reports, Johnny Depp filed a lawsuit against his ex-managers because of which he got entangled in the legal system for longer time.
