Hong Kong rapper/ singer Jackson Wang will not be part of GOT7's upcoming Japanese promotions. The South Korean boy group member is skipping the events due to his health condition.
Sony Music, who is in charge of GOT7's promotions in Japan, released an official statement regarding the situation. The note read: "Thank you for always supporting GOT7's Jackson. This is an announcement regarding GOT7 Jackson's condition. Jackson needs some resting and some time to get back into performing condition. After an examination from his doctor, it has been decided that he will not be participating in GOT7's Japanese promotions. GOT7 will promote as 6 while they are in Japan. Please keep your best wishes and support."
Meanwhile, many reports were making rounds that Jackson will be leaving GOT7. However, he squashed the rumours on his Instagram. He wrote: "Stop asking about me leaving GOT7 my lovely people. It's not even a question, homies ride forever, it's not about a contract, it's about a relationship, a friendship, on top of all, a true family."
In 2016, Jackson had met with an car accident, while he was on his way to the airport in China. The rapper reportedly did not sustain any major injuries, although he went for an extensive medical check-up after his flight landed in Japan.
JYP entertainment revealed that the Hong Kong-born Chinese rapper suffered the crash due to a fan, who was dangerously following him in a car. The agency relayed: "GOT7's Jackon suffered a car accident caused by a fan following him in a car, and he's been injured. Jackson was taken to the hospital immediately after arriving at his destination, and we've taken action so he can receive an examination."
The label further requested fans not to involve in such wild act: "Stalking artist cars is a dangerous act that can cause serious accidents that not only affect the artist, but yourself and those around you. As it's dangerous for not only your safety but the safety of others, we sincerely ask fans once again to prevent this sort of situation that endangers the public."
