One of the most anticipated Bollywood movies of 2017, Jab Harry Met Sejal starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, finally released on Aug 4 and has received a humongous response at theatres on its first day. According to reports, the romantic comedy has become the fourth highest opener for Shah Rukh Khan.
The Imtiaz Ali film was released in almost 4300 screens across the globe and has witnessed nearly 70 per cent occupancy on its opening day. However, in some cities, the theatres were housefull.
On its opening day, Jab Harry Met Sejal has collected an approximate amount of Rs 20.5 crores at the domestic market. When compared to Shah Rukh Khan's previous fim titled Raees, this latest film has done slightly better. Raees had done a business of Rs. 20.42 crore on its first day. However, Jab Harry Met Sejal has become fourth biggest opener for Shah Rukh after Happy New Year, Chennai Express and Dilwale.
Jab Harry Met Sejal has garnered mixed reviews at the box office, including critics as well as its audience. Some people loved the amazing chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and his lead actress, Anushka Sharma, while, some are highly disappointed with the complicated love story that loses its connect with the audience in the second half.
The film revolves around Shah Rukh Khan a.k.a Harry or Harinder Singh Nehra, a Punjabi tour guide and Anushka Sharma, who portrays the character of Sejal Jhaveri, a Gujarati self-claimed selfish woman. Both of them meet during their trip to Europe and what follows is their love story.
