Pangu, the popular Chinese jailbreak developer team had allegedly showcased an image of a jailbroken iPhone 7 running iOS 10.3.1 at the recently held Janus conference in Shanghai. Meanwhile, Apple is already prepping the release of iOS 10.3.2, following the four beta releases leading up to the final release.
With Pangu jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 seemingly just around the corner, prospective jailbreakers could be wondering if it is feasible to upgrade their device to the latest iOS firmware or stay on the older iOS 10.2 or 10.2.1 firmware.
There are a few possible scenarios that you might encounter, ahead of the highly-anticipated working jailbreak for the latest iOS firmware:
Apple releases iOS 10.3.2
Pangu team is yet to confirm the availability of a working jailbreak for iOS 10.3.2, besides Apple could possibly fix all vulnerabilities used in iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak from Pangu. Consequently, it would be a wise move to wait for the impending Pangu jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1, before you try upgrading to the corresponding firmware that has a working jailbreak.
Running iOS 10.3
iOS 10.3 users may upgrade to iOS 10.3.1 soon after its release as Pangu is expected to support both the firmware with no major feature changes between the two. iOS 10.3.1 only adds bug fixes and security enhancements over its previous release.
Jailbroken on iOS 10.2 or 10.2.1
Those who are already jailbroken on iOS 10 firmware are strongly advised to stay put and wait for the Pangu team to roll out the stable release of iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak. Early or beta releases of any jailbreak will be prone to inherent bugs and stability issues, which will be addressed in the final or public release.
Running iOS 10.2 or lower without jailbreak
If you are running any firmware lower than iOS 10.2.1 and without a jailbreak, then it would be worth the wait for the official release of iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak. In the interim, you could use the Yalu jailbreak to root your device on the existing iOS firmware.
Running iOS 10.2.1
iOS 10.2.1 users will have to wait until Apple releases iOS 10.3.1 or iOS 10.3.2 final, especially given the fact that the iPhone maker will continue signing iOS 10.3.1 firmware for at least a week after the iOS 10.3.2 release. This could give Pangu team ample time to roll out the jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1.
