Girls' Generation member Im Yoona is the new face of Chinese charity campaign, Power To Go. The 26-year-old is the second non-Chinese model to be selected for a Chinese state campaign. South Korean actor Jung Yong-hwa was designated as a campaign spokesperson recently.
The Power To Go charity campaign is a fundraising program launched by Chinese actor Chen Kun in 2010. It aims at raising donation for various charity projects by including big names of the industry. The celebrities and volunteers initiate a silent march in remote villages for a week to raise money. The proceedings are reportedly used to promote children welfare and education in China.
The Power To Go campaign has been successfully running for the past six years.
In related news, Yoona, who is outclassing the popularity of the Descendants of the Sun star Son Joong Ki in China, celebrated her 26th birthday with her Girls' Generation band members recently. The eight-member girl group got together after a long time and spent some quality time with each other. The girls posted some fun-filled pictures of the gala dinner night on their social media accounts. Yoona currently features on Hunan TV's God Of War.
