Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about her relationship with former husband, Chris Martin. The Iron Man actress and the Coldplay singer have maintained a close bond for their two children, Apple and Moses.
During an interview with Red magazine, the 43-year-old actress talked about the couple's divorce. She said: "It really has not been easy for me at times, I'm sure it's not been easy for him. But when we said we're going to put the children first, we meant [it]."
"If you want to put your children first, then why are you slagging your husband off in front of them? So we really tried [and] that meant I'm gonna check my s**t at the door, and I'm going to focus on all the reasons that I love you, that you're like my brother and my family forever and we'll deal with that stuff another time. It's not always easy, but it's just the way we wanted to try to do it," she added.
"I have to say it wasn't the outcome we were hoping for, but it was our outcome and we've really done the best that we can," Paltrow continued.
Meanwhile, Martin revealed to The Sunday Times, how the two handled their crumbling marriage. He said: "It's always out there in the media, but I have a very wonderful separation-divorce. It's a divorce, but it's a weird one. You can come at it very aggressively and blame and blame. Or you can put yourself in the garage, so to speak. Take yourself apart and clean off the bits. Reassemble."
