Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot got praise for playing Wonder Woman in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The 31-year-old actress revealed she was inspired from Princess Diana to portray the role.
During a panel celebrating the character's 75th birthday in comics at San Diego Comic-Con, Gadot talked about Wonder Woman, who is also known as Diana Prince. She said: "She (Princess Diana) said she leads from her heart and not from her head. And I think the same is true of our Diana."
"Diana grew up in (the isolated island of) Themyscira where she was very safe and very protected. She thought she knew everything about the world. When she left Themyscira to go to the world of men, she realises there is so much more that she doesn't understand," she added.
Gadot spoke about her experiences working on the film. She explained: "Many times, it (filming the movie) felt like we got signs from the universe. It felt like we were just a vessel for a greater story that we need to share with everyone. It isn't about me as an actress or Patty as a director. It felt like, now is the time."
Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2, 2017.
