Singaporean actress Felicia Chin never shies away from trying something new and out of the box for her appearances.
For her red carpet parade at Star Awards 2016 Part 1 on Sunday, the actress chose a tricky nude dress by Adelaide-based designer Paolo Sebastian. The floor length gown, which appeared to be see through all over, was not transparent in real and contained a bodysuit beneath, specially flown from Italy for the actress.
"There was no Hollywood tape involved. No alteration was needed too. The key to an outfit like this was getting the right undergarment, so we flew in a corset bodysuit from Italy which cost $900. We had to make sure that it suited the cut of the dress and her skin colour, " Chin's long-time stylist Martin Wong told The News Paper.
Wong picked the embellished nude gown for the 31-year-old as it gave the actress a "fun, young and elegant" feel.
"She has tried everything (for other award ceremonies) prior to this - other unconventional choices included a bra top and a graffiti skirt, as well as a short gown - so I wanted something different. This made her stand out, plus it suits her fun and bubbly personality, " Wong said.
While the award winning actress fell in love with the $11,000 dress at first go, she felt little skeptical on the fitting day, Wong recalled.
"When she tried it, she went, 'Oh my God, I look naked. I don't dare to wear this.' But I encouraged her to try it anyway. Besides, she received plenty of compliments for it (during the fitting). That was when she decided to give it a go," he added.
Sharing her experience on the daring gown, the No Limit actress herself stated that she might not try something similar next year.
"I really like the outfit but when the spotlight shone on me, I got a shock and didn't know how my mum would react."
"I think your outfit displays your attitude. Maybe I won't wear something similar next year, " the actress affirmed Shin Min Daily.
The actress will walk the red carpet for the second edition of Star Awards 2016 on April 24th.
