Actress-singer IU performed at the Yonsei University "Akaraka" Festival recently and fans are awestruck! Guess the reason? Well, the pretty lass looked like a real angel in a simple white top. She performed some of her hit songs including her latest release Palette at the mini-concert.
According to reports, every time the camera panned towards the singer, fans erupted in joy. "It even got to the point where IU herself was so curious about what exactly was making the crowd scream so much that she kept turning back to look at the screen in order to find out," a report on AllKpop narrated.
The Scarlet Heart Ryeo actress made her comeback with a new studio album Palatte on April 21. The album received thumbs up from fans and critics alike. It was appreciated for its colourful lyrics, well-crafted melodies and emotional clarity.
IU aka Lee Ji-eun has so far released four studio albums and nine extended plays, scoring two number-one albums and fourteen number-one singles on the Gaon Music Charts. She is always considered as one of the best-selling solo artists in the K-pop industry, which is dominated by boy and girl groups. She was also listed on the Forbes magazine's annual Korea Power Celebrity list since 2012, reaching a peak ranking of number three in 2012.
Though IU has reached the pinnacle of success, her journey was never an easy one. After many ups and down, she came to the limelight with her album "Good Day" in 2010. Kpop stated, "Good Day stayed five consecutive weeks at the number one position on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. It also holds the record for having the most number of weeks at the top position along with Psy's Gangnam Style."
