Family, close friends and stars were in mourning as they attended the funeral ceremony for the late actor Kim Joo-hyuk Thursday morning.
The 45-year-old actor was killed on October 30 when his car crashed into a wall of an apartment building and turned over in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
Under tight security, the ceremony was held at around 10:30 AM at the Asan Medical Center funeral hall.
Among the stars who attended were the late actor's girlfriend Lee Yoo Yung, Kim Jong-min, Kim Joon Ho, Defconn, producer-director Yoo Ho Jin, Oh Ji-ho, Moon Geun-young, Lee Joon-gi, Kim Ji-soo, Yoo Jun-sang, Chun Woo-hee, Lee Yoon-ji, Hwang Jung-min and Park Gun-hyung.
Meanwhile, the TV program "Law of the Jungle" said it has already contacted singer Jung Joon Young, also a cast member of "2 Days & 1 Night," who is in Cook Islands to film the show. Kim Joo-hyuk was a cast member of the TV show "2 Days & 1 Night" from 2013 to 2015.
Jung Joon Young was apparently unaware that the actor died on October 30 and the program's staff tried to contact him.
"First and foremost, we express our deepest sympathy for the tragic passing of actor Kim Joo Hyuk, and we offer our sincerest condolences. This morning at 8:30 a.m. KST, the production staff finally got in contact with the crew at [Cook Island]," the show said in a statement.
It added, "The second team for 'Law of the Jungle' had arrived at the island on October 29 and had immediately gone to a remote filming site where communication was difficult. We were unable to contact the people there because the area recently experienced a fire."
The TV show explained that the filming was supposed to last until November 3 but the staff decided to cut it short by one day due to weather in Cook Islands.
"They wrapped up filming a little while ago, and we contacted Jung Joon Young as soon as the cast moved to a more accessible location," it said. "The production staff is currently consoling Jung Joon Young and trying to find a way for him to return to Korea as soon as possible. It's difficult because there are no direct flights to Korea, but we will try our best."
