Looks like EXO's Kai is all set to create history. If reports are true, he will play the lead role in an upcoming Japanese drama, Spring Has Come (working title). This is the first time a non-Japanese actor will be playing the lead.
The drama is based on a Japanese novel of the same name and Kai is likely to appear as a Korean cameraman. Written by Kuniko Mukōda and produced by channel WOWOW, the plot revolves around family life in a modern society.
Meanwhile, Kai is currently busy with his K-drama Andante, a new classroom drama produced by KBS. Kail will be playing a high schooler, Lee Si Kyung. The technical side of Andante includes director Park Ki Ho of Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek and writers Park Sun Ja and Kwon Ki Kyung of the Sharp series. The drama will have 16 episodes and will be aired during the latter half of 2017.
Recently, Kai suffered a severe ankle injury for which he was out of action for quite some time. The singer injured his ankle after a fall during EXO PLANET #3 - The EXO'rDIUM concert tour back in July 2016. He was advised bed rest for five months.
On singing front, EXO is all set for its North American tour in April with EXO PLANET #3 -The EXO'rdium concerts in the east and west coasts. This Chinese-South Korean boy band consists of members Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai and Sehun. EXO was identified as one of the top three Kpop male groups with high brand reputations for the month of February. The boy band landed at number two with a score of 5,678,563 points, according to data from the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation, as cited by All Kpop.
In 2016, the band sold 2.13 million albums, with EX'ACT and Lotto together selling 1.17 million copies and For Life bringing in another 425,000 copies. They have been named as the most influential celebrity by Forbes Korea for the year 2014 and 2015.
