Eva Mendes has revealed why she did not accompany Ryan Gosling to the Oscars 2017 held at the the Dolby Theatre on 26 February in Hollywood. The 36-year-old star was nominated for Best Actor for his role in the musical film, La La Land.
During an interview with Shape magazine, the 43-year-old actress said she was at home with their two young daughters during the actor's big night. She said: "What people don't know about me is that I love being home. Instead of hitting the red carpet, I'd rather be with our girls."
The last time Gosling and Mendes were spotted at a public event together was at the premiere of their film The Place Beyond The Pines at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. The couple who are always tight-lipped about their private life welcomed their first daughter, Esmeralda Amada Gosling on 12 September 2014. In 2016, their new bundle of joy Amada Lee was born.
Meanwhile, Gosling paid tribute to Mendes as he collected his Golden Globe award for the Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy prize for his performance in La La Land. He said: "I just would like to try and thank one person properly, and say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer."
He continued: "If she hadn't taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. Sweetheart, thank you."
