English actress Emilia Clarke was not a known name before she portrayed the role of Daenerys Targaryen, in the record breaking series, Game of Thrones. The 29-year-old, who made her debut in the entertainment industry in 2009, got her first break in 2010.
During her interview with Variety, the actress revealed that the producers of GOT saw her in England and called her for the auditions. She said: "David Benioff and Dan Weiss and Frank Doelger and Carolyn Strauss — all producers on the show, showrunners — they had seen me in England and they had brought me over. "
She continued: "And they were kind of, 'Oh so this chick we found somewhere in London who's done nothing but one episode of a daytime TV show, we'd like her to be this main character on this new show we're doing.' So, I needed to go in and be like, they weren't crazy"
Reminiscing her first audition of the hit series, the Emmy award winning actress revealed that she did the funky chicken and the robot dance in order to bag the role. Clark added: "So then I went in and I did the scenes and then I was like, 'Can I do anything else? Is there anything else you want me to do?' And, David Benioff was like 'You can do a dance' LOL as a joke and I took him so seriously."
Clarke confessed that she was quite nervous before the auditions and in order to look best, she avoided sugar and other things from her diet. She told the media outlet: "I had been really healthy and then they offered me a Diet Coke and I was like, 'Yeah, I'm going to take that Diet Coke. I'm going to take that sugar."
