Singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding has split with boyfriend Dougie Poynter. The Love Me Like You Do singer revealed that the pair could not cope up with their hectic schedules.
Goulding is currently busy with her third concert tour, the Delirium World Tour, which will wrap up in October. She told The Sun: "People think I'm invincible but these past few weeks have been tough."
"When you're in the public eye, it seems like you're able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true. I'm not in a relationship any more and that's been hard. Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head," Goulding added.
During an interview with Red Magazine, the On My Mind singer had opened up about her relationship with the McFly member. The two have been in an on and off relationship since 2014. She said: "When I met Dougie, he had no game. He was just like, 'you're really cool, let's go out'. It was me that pursued him, a bit, very unexpectedly."
"Before him, I was having a single period and hating all men, saying never again, after a series of things that happened to me. I really, really thought I was going to be single for a long while. But then I met him and was like, uh-oh, game over. He was just so nice. So, you know, you don't throw something like that away so easily," Goulding added.
Meanwhile, in the April issue of Seventeen magazine, Goulding talked about her relationship with One Direction singer Niall Horan. She said: "We're still friends. We went on a few dates, and it was really fun. He's a really, really lovely guy. He's got the biggest sense of humor, he's very caring, and I see him as a genuine friend in the industry."
