There is some incredible news from the makers of the hit series Descendants of the Sun, which the fans cannot afford to miss. Fans can once again relive the days of the series starring Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye Kyo in the coming months.
Broadcaster KBS and the production house have revealed that they will be releasing a director's cut DVD of the show in the second half of the year. As per an ANN report, the special release will feature a re-edited version of the final episode, along with deleted scenes, a music video and behind-the-scenes footage.
Producer's wish to launch a reframed edition of the 16th episode is speculated to be the result of numerous requests from the show's diehard fans. The report suggests that DOTS viewers have been requesting a director's cut even before the show premiered its finale in April.
Previously, the broadcasters and producers were not very keen on producing the uncut version due to the complications involved in raising such a project. However, after receiving heaps of requests from the fans, the makers decided to re-consider the earlier decision.
Meanwhile, the exact date for the launch of re-edited footage has not been confirmed. It is said that it is more likely to be released in the latter half of the year.
The 16th episode of the Descendants of the Sun, which was telecast on April 14, reportedly broke all the records with 38.8 nationwide viewership, according to Nielsen Korea.
