The beautiful, cunning, villainous and scheming prep school student is back to take control over Valmont International.
Yes, it is official -- NBC is all set to revive the 1999 American drama film 'Cruel Intentions' by launching a pilot series on the small screen. Should the pilot pick up, the intoxicating series will be a regular guest on your home sets.
The news broke when the antagonist of the actual movie, Sarah Michelle Gellar, took to Instagram to confirm the move saying: "That's right, 'Everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way,' #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv) on the new #Crueltv".
She is the first on the call sheet to enliven her character as the master manipulator, Kathryn Merteuil. The other cast of the show has not been revealed yet, nor the revival of any other star character has been finalised.
Roger Kumble, the original writer and director of the movie, will direct the plot for NBC. The original star cast of the movie consisted of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair.
'Cruel Intentions' will mark one of the grandest comebacks for Gellar, after her last show 'The Crazy ones' went off air in 2013 on CBS. She also starred in 'The Ringer' on the CW in 2011. Both of her shows lasted for one season. 'Bluffy the Vampire Slayer', which started in 1997 and successfully went on to seven seasons, was one of the huge hits for Gellar .
