Joey Feek, the country singing star of the famous duo Joey + Rory, breathed her last on March 4 at her home in Indiana.
In a soulful blog post, Rory, Joey's husband wrote, "At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying ... my precious bride breathed her last".
"My wife's greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven."
The CMT series star, Feek was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, a few months after her daughter was born. She underwent a medicine course, but chemotherapy and radiation failed to prevent her cancer from growing. After this, the 40 year-old decided to stop the treatment for stage four cancer.
Songwriter and Joey's husband, Rory has been very regular with his blog post after Feek was diagnosed with cancer. In one of his posts, describing how shattered they were when Feek's medication failed, he wrote: " To say my wife is brokenhearted is an understatement. And to tell you that we're not scared would be a lie. This is the kind of thing that happens to somebody else, not us. But then I have to remember ... we are somebody else to somebody else". He added, " So we don't have forever, we've got right now ... and that's enough."
The husband-wife country duo came into spotlight in 2008 when they became the third-place finalist in the CMT show "Can You Duet.". After which there was no looking back, and they went on to produce a couple of hits. One of the songs, 'Cheater-Cheater', from the couple's debut album, made grand news when it got premium slot in Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.
In 2016, the famous couple who won Top New Vocal Duo in Academy of Country Music award 2010, got their first nomination in Grammy Awards for their song 'If I need you'. Though they lost to 'Little Big Town', they posted a photo of their Grammy nominee ribbon on Instagram and wrote, "...more than enough."
Their last album, titled "Hymns That Are Important to Us" got released few days back on Feb. 12, 2016.
Rory, who was beside her all the time, expressed in his post that Feek was a happy soul and lived her life with no regrets. Few days before, when she drifted into deep sleep, Joey told Rory, 'I have no regrets... I can honestly say, that I have done everything I wanted to do and lived the life I always wanted to live.'"
May the blessed soul rest in peace !
