Popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory recently announced that they will be renewing the series and will have two more seasons. According to media reports, CBS Corporation's CEO Leslie Moonves said that they are "very, very close" to the renewal of the show. Moreover, Huffington Post reported that the lead actors are finalizing an agreement and the official announcement may be out anytime soon.
Moonves announced, "We have established hits including the number one drama 'NCIS,' and the number one comedy 'The Big Bang Theory'–which, by the way, we are very very close to renewing for two more years." Although he did not reveal much, he hinted that the show will be back on-air soon.
According to Deadline, the original cast members of the show will be a part of the next two seasons. Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kunal Nayyar, Kaley Cuoco, and Simon Helberg will be finalizing their contracts. It was also reported that if things go right between CBS and Warner Bros. the show will return for seasons 11 and 12. Though the storyline of the upcoming seasons has not been revealed yet, people are speculating that it will be a prequel of Sheldon's younger years.
Deadline also reported that all the five members of the show will have an equal pay of around $1 million per episode. Galecki , Parsons, and Cuoco demanded an equal pay during the previous installments. Moreover, according to the new contract, Nayyar and Helberg will also have the same pay-check as their co-stars. Other actors like Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch will also have major pay raises.
However, it should be noted that CBS has only announced the finalisation of the agreement and no further information has been given yet. The upcoming seasons' release date, plot, and other details are yet to be finalised. Till the showrunners reveal the other details of the upcoming seasons, fans can be happy with the news of the renewal.
