A new job listing has confirmed that Bethesda is planning to release soon an online multiplayer title. According to ZeniMax, Bethesda's next game is in the works now as a free-to-play model.
Bethesda Game Studios has officially started to haunt for dedicated talents to join its team for the development of what is believed to be a free-to-play game. Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax the posted a job listing on its website looking for a "Manager in Game Performance to join the Montreal-based team that exceeds the standards and pushes the boundaries of AAA freemium game development".
According to the job description, the manager in position will "envision, evolve, and operate monetization strategies, targeting the intersection of revenue generation goals and quality player experience". Other than that, no more details are available as of the moment.
Some of the most successful free-to-play online multiplayer games include Paladins, DOTA 2, and Team Fortress 2, among others. Free-to-play, or freemium as it is often called, games bank on expansions, cosmetic items, and in-game currency to generate income from the game.
Free-to-play is not in Bethesda's parameter of expertise and culture. Thus, Neowin reports that the listing could also mean the company's posting is referring to the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout title. What is certain, Bethesda should not be referring to Starfield for three reasons. First, it is developed in Maryland, not in Montreal, Canada. Second, the game is reported to be a Skyrim-style role-playing game. Third, it is slated to launch at the E3 2017 next week and monetization model must be firm at this stage.
On 11 June, Bethesda is expected to reveal its future releases at the said event. However, it remains uncertain if Montreal's project will make an appearance there.
